Our story · Since 1978

A love story, baked fresh

The business was founded by Ernesto Torrejon Sr. and Elsie Uytiepo Torrejon. Elsibeth Corporation, then known as LC's Yummies, started in 1978, and its special recipes have remained unchanged for over 4 decades.

It is a love story

Elsie Torrejon, the family matriarch for whom the bread and business was named, is also the chief baker and creator of the now heirloom recipes of Elsie's Frozen Bread.

She is a former ballet teacher whose passion for the dance spanned more than four decades, teaching and passing on the torch to her students for 20 years in her native Bacolod, and another 22 years in Manila.

Just as expected, the dancer and the baker were one and the same, after all. "Mommy Elsie" formulated the so-called "Elsie recipe" in the 70's, having gotten the cooking genes from her mom Dolores, who worked wonders in the kitchen.

Ballet is both a science and an art all its own. The grace and flow of movement: either you do it perfectly or not at all. Mediocrity has no place in ballet.

It takes a lot of discipline, hard work, and creativity to be able to dance the dance. These are the same rigorous standards that went into the creation of each of Elsie's heirloom recipes, and the same passion for perfection that goes into every piece of Elsie's Frozen Bread.

From a home kitchen to a bakery

When Mommy Elsie retired from teaching ballet in 1977, she was not content to just lounge in her home and be idle. Donning her mom's apron, so to speak, she opened in 1978, with her husband Ernesto, her own bakeshop which she called LC's Yummies. At the time, the bakery was an extension of the Torrejon kitchen, with Mrs. Torrejon and one baker handling the production.

Ernesto Torrejon took charge of Sales and the Finances. He approached supermarkets with samples of the bread, and in 1981 the company acquired its first client, United Supermarket.

The company has grown since 1978, with a fully equipped bakery, delivery vans, and 45 employees. We have been pioneers in the business of frozen bread for over 4 decades and continue to grow with the changing times.

The secret is the product

The secret, we believe, is the product. Choosing the best ingredients and well-trained bakers, we continue to produce bread of the finest quality.

The bread is parbaked and then frozen, ensuring up to three months of shelf life, unlike other bread on the market. The bread is easily stored in your home freezers.

To serve: thaw the bread for approximately 15 minutes, then bake in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes until the bread turns golden brown. The result is freshly baked bread at your convenience, right in your own home.

Our commitment to product quality

Using Mommy Elsie's original heirloom recipes, and with an eye for preserving the highest grade of standards, all of Elsie's Frozen Bread products are made of only the finest quality natural ingredients with absolutely no preservatives.

Wake up to the scents of freshly baked bread every single day without having to troop to the grocery daily to buy some. With each of Elsie's Frozen Bread all-season best-sellers, it's like having your own baker right in your own home.
